I get it, girl.
Sometimes we get in a funk and it’s tough to get back into a routine. We start a task with the best of intentions, but before we know it we are 3 episodes in Schitt’s Creek and nowhere near the end of our to-do list. Some days just do be like that.
But what do you have to do when you are facing that deadline and you don’t have the time to
daddle? Or ‘be a little bit Alexis”? Well girl, then you got to get your sh*t together. Start with a list and set a time limit for each task. Turn your phone on silent and set your timer. After every 3 tasks take a break – a timed one at that. And start looking for ways to self gratify yourself for completing the day’s to-dos.
Ask for feedback. If you are stuck on a task and have no clue where to start, then reach out to someone else for help. Ask for them to help you read out the task at hand and help you work through it. Sometimes a fresh pair of eyes can help you see a task in a new light.
Tackle your most important tasks before lunch. I don’t know about you but once lunchtime hits my motivation takes a nosedive. I don’t know if it’s because I’m itching close to 5pm or because a full tummy makes me slightly sleepy, but what I do know is that I’m more likely to put a task off until tomorrow if I’m sitting with my face full of a sandwich. (Cubanos mostly. But that’s for another day…) So tackle your most important task before the tummy rumbles and you’ll fire through that task list.
Get the boring tasks out of the way first. We hate the 100 plus emails we wake up to each day. I know. But clear those mundane tasks before they pile up so you can move on with the day and not have the cloud of emails or boring tasks sitting over you all day.
And above all, clear your to-do list before 5pm on a Friday. Because no one likes to take tasks through the weekend. You ain’t winning any medals for that girl!
